Lost Souls and Paperwork - Post Mortem

Hey y'all, I just wanted to make a short post about this game, what I've learned while working on it and what I think might come next, because I started doing games again and I started to reminisce the thing that started it all.

  1. This was my first Game Jam. The version 0.1 was made only in 7 days. The art was terrible, the controls were clunky, many crucial mechanics were nowhere to be found and it was unbalanced as hell. But for the first game that someone could actually play it was pretty good.
  2. I learned A LOT about Unity, how public variables work, how to randomize items, how to randomly spawn enemies and much more. And that's also why I decided to work on it after the jam, I saw how much could be done with it and how many things I could learn.
  3. I not only learned things about the engine, but also myself - I understood this is what I want to do with my life, I understood how much l could do with my life if I actually focus on what's important to me. And to think that my entire life plans came from a single thought of "huh, that could be fun" when seeing the "Jams" tab on Itch.

So yeah, it might sound cheesy, but that game might be one of the most important things that happened to me in a long time, I'm really glad I was able to make this, even if it is relatively insignificant.

Okay it's time for some less fun and lighthearted topics, but I want everyone where this game is and where it will be.
If you follow me on twitter (Please do, I do funny stuff) you could've heard about my plans to do few more post-mortem updates to Lost Souls. I finally had some time to work on those today, but my Unity broke, I had to reinstall it like 5 times and I think at some point during that process all of my current projects got corrupted (multiple files got deleted/changed) and it would be A LOT of work to get them back to where they were, if even possible (I'm not gonna work for few days on something that was already done, especially because I'm happy with where it ended). Thus further work on Lost Souls, and any other games done before today is sadly not possible.

On the other hand, that might be a sign to leave the old trash behind and work on something new... Well we'll see how it goes.
